Springfield Junior School is part of Children’s Endeavour Trust – a collaboration of 8 schools in the Ipswich and Stowmarket area.

We are seeking to appoint a new team member to join our staff team. The post of SEN Support Assistant involves working 1-to-1 with students to provide a bespoke package of provision and support to access learning.

You will be friendly, eager to make a difference in the lives of our young people and will encourage the students to make the most of each day.

With the guidance from the team, you will be able to support with:

  • strategies for individuals to successfully learn at an appropriate level
  • raising pupils’ self-esteem and confidence
  • supporting pupils to find ways to regulate their behaviour and to begin to talk about their thoughts and feelings
  • supervising during nurture activities and break/lunch times.

Previous experience of working with students is required although full training and induction will be provided. The essential qualities are; you will be able to stay calm and measured even in the most challenging of situations; will have the ability to respond quickly and professionally at all times; be resilience; have a positive outlook and enjoy a good rapport with students as well as have the desire to help them succeed and learn.

You will:

  • have qualifications in English and mathematics at GSCE or equivalent
  • have experience of working in a primary school or specialist setting
  • be confident in positive behaviour management
  • have a good understanding of how children learn and be flexible and able to adapt to the needs of the children
  • be able to model excellent communication and liaise closely with teachers and other staff.
